The National Health Security Office (NHSO) will consider whether to add seven more medicines to the 30-baht universal healthcare scheme.
Public Health Minister Pradit Sintawanarong said the proposal was submitted by a sub-committee of the National List of Essential Medicines.
The seven medicines include those used to treat severe aplitic anaemia,Gaucher syndrome, early-stage breast cancer, cardiac dysrhythmia and methicillin resistance. An anti-venom and an alternative HIV treatment for people allergic to drugs currently offered in the scheme will also be considered.
Dr Pradit, who chairs the NHSO board, said the board would consider the financial burden of introducing the drugs to the scheme before a final decision is made.
